The Practice
Thomas-McBrien Architects is an award-winning RIBA Chartered architecture practice and design studio based in east London.
In 2020, the practice was selected by the Architecture Foundation for the ‘New Architects 4’ publication which features the work of the best British architectural practices established in the last 10-years.
The work of the practice spans many sectors and scales, ranging from residential refurbishments and extensions, to retail installations and interior fit-outs, to new build homes and larger commerical projects.
Our work is characterised by rigorous, well-proportioned form instilled with our passion for materiality, craftsmanship and refined detailing. Our contemporary aesthetic is counterbalanced by our respect and understanding of the historic.
We enjoy working with clients who share our appreciation for considered design. We work hard, striving to deliver beautifully crafted, well executed interventions that have a timeless quality, both in function and finish. The pure and tactile qualities of materials, and the combined physical and sensory experiences of space are at the core of our approach. We embrace the aesthetic but there is a simple honesty and considered methodology in the things we design and construct.
